FASADA Festival was founded in 2021. As a festival dedicated to street art and active environmental advocacy, it is the first of its kind in the region. Created under the motto "We educate, we paint, we change, we connect", FASADA Festival strives with each edition to find new cultural strategies that contribute to positive societal change.
Vision
The vision of FASADA Festival is to transform Sarajevo into an open-air gallery and contribute to the positive transformation of the local community through art that promotes environmental preservation, equality, and solidarity in society.
Mission
The mission of the Festival is to create opportunities for local and international artists to take part in turning Sarajevo into an open-air gallery, and to advocate for a supportive legal framework for the production of street art by pushing for changes in the regulations governing public space.

Through a series of workshops, presentations, and other educational and discursive content, FASADA Festival aims to engage young people and provide them with new knowledge and experiences in the fields of street art and urban culture. By equipping them with essential tools and skills, FASADA Festival seeks to empower youth to use art as their voice in the fight for a better community.

Each year, FASADA Festival revitalizes urban structures through mural painting while simultaneously addressing pressing social issues. The curatorial selection of artists creates a unique thematic and stylistic framework for each festival edition. Beyond mural production, the presentation of street art is extended into gallery settings, making exhibitions a vital part of the festival’s artistic program.

Revitalizing residential neighborhoods goes beyond painting a few murals in close proximity — it also involves community engagement, active dialogue, and the creation of relationships, opportunities, and collaborations that enable continued activist-artistic work in public space. That is why FASADA Festival includes a series of community-focused activities. Every engaged artistic intervention in the urban environment is a step toward societal regeneration.
